Hello everyone! This web site is great! I'am so glad my sister Lisa (class of 85 GHS)found it! We moved to Greenville when I was in fourth grade and we moved to Salem Il. when I was in High school. I have missed Greenville and still consider it my home town. It was a great place to grow up! I now live in Huntsville, AL with my husband and two sons. My sister Lisa and her husband lives down the road from me. She has two beautiful girls. My younger sister Melinda lives in Tx. with her 3 childern. I am so glad there is a Greenville web site. It keeps us connected to the past!
We are very excited about coming to Greenville, IL! I will be assuming duties as pastor of Smith Grove Baptist Church on March 11, 2001. We can't wait to meet folks and establish roots in our new hometown. See you all soon.
I am related to the Brown's in Greenville. My Mother was Letty Brown Barron. My Grandmother was Belle Brown of Pochantas, Ill.
My wife Jody and I live in Indianapolis. I teach science at Zionsville High School.
Just want to let you guys know, the Greenville slide presentation is GREAT! I was always curious about the history of many of the buildings in Greenville and didn't have the time to investigate myself. The internet slide presentation is a wonderful way to view certain areas of Greenville from the comfort of my home. My father is Dan Kaegy, who grew up in Greenville, IL. His siblings are Max Kaegy and Sharon(Kaegy)Berlin. My grandparent's are Loren Kaegy who has passed on and Edna(Gaffner)Kaegy who resides in Greenivlle. My cousin, Kevin Kaegy, is involved in the historical society in the area. I currently live in Breese, IL. I am very proud of my Greenville heritage and will be sure to pass it on to the next generation to come.
Hey........ I live in Greenville, for 15 years, and i really enjoy it, but it would be better if our community would have some activities for our teenagers. because going to the movies for $5.00 gets old after awhile..... maybe if y'all would get a skating rink or a pool hall.. that would be cool, just so we could all hang out. but otherwise Greenville is a really cool town!
Name:

Exceptional City!! The parks right outside Main Street area were some of the nicest in the area - would be interested in keeping tabs on park events, etc. via a Web Page. This was a great escape from the angst & pressure of Chicago.
I was born and raised in Greenville and I am currently living in Chicago, Illinois. I am attending The University of Chicago, graduate program in Social Service Administration. I was curious to know how to find out more about the Royal Lake communities in the area. If you would have any information concerning these areas I would greatly appreciate it. Have a great day.
Hey I live in Greenville.
Great website. Wonderful town.
Hello, I write here, because I want to contact Dave or Kim Stief (the same name as I have) Greetings! HJS
Great site! On our way to your town, today.
Looking forward to visiting your fine town again at Christmas. Happy Holidays to all the residents of Greenville and all the best in the upcoming year.
To Randy and the rest of the folks at the Greenville Chamber:
Thank you ever so much for the many Greenville sites on the web. I especially love receiving "THE MONDAY MORNING QUARTERBACK." To stay in touch with the city I love is a dream come true! I may not be able to travel to Greenville as much as I want to, but I can at least make a daily trip there via the world wide web!
Keep up the good work Greenville!
PS: I look forward to "coming home" someday and seeing a movie at your new theatre! CONGRATS!!!! on the Globe Theatre!
It looks like a nice place to have a business!
I grew up in Greenville. Attended Greenville College. Still have relatives there. Some of the names of my ancestors were Arnold, Brown, Hediger, Howard, Zobrist, Meyer, and of course Zeller. I now live in California.
My family lived in Greenville and around bond country for a long time, and I graduated from H.S. in 1963, Frank Watson was our class president. It was a great place to grow up, I moved away in 1978 after my father died but i still get their once in awhile. A lot of the people I knew are all gone but still know a few their. GREAT WEB site.
I graduated from Greenville College in 1955 and have served as pastor of churches in Kentucky, Tennessee, and Illinois. My wife and I chose Greenville for our residence when I retired in 1997. We enjoy the opportunities and the friendly atmosphere of the community.
HI EVERYONE. First off.....thanks RANDY............ This is a GREAT IDEA.................Marilyn & I both went to CENTRAL & OLD HIGH-SCHOOL. We first met, I worked for Irmel Harnetiaux, the old Standard Station on 3rd St. in June of '56, married Dec.29,'56 ,44 yrs. We now live 4 miles north of HIGHLAND, 4141 R-160. I retired in '97 from McDonnell Douglas-Boeing after 41 yrs., 30 years of traveling for MAC. We had 3 children, Gary Hediger, Cheryl Gibson, & Diane Leathers. 2 grandchildren from each, and they now all live within 10 mile radius. We lost Diane in '96. Fish, hunt, golf, tinker around some. Marilyn does crafts....... After retiring, started a WEB SITE BUSINESS to help anyone to start there own BUSINESS. If interested doing so, click on to http://www.linkic.com. (enter code 0509374) Check it out. Muriel Hediger, mother, still lives across from Ready Mix place, used to be across from poor farm, she is 81 this year. Harold E. Hediger, dad, lives in Black Jack, MO, north of I-270, on old Hallsferry rd., he will be 85 this Dec., and he is doing very well also. Its great to be retired, busier then ever. Its good to be in and around folks you knew when growing up.
Thanks again RANDY.....LA & MARILYN
THANK YOU for having such a wonderful site! I sincerely miss Greenville, having lived there as a GC student from 1986-90, and then several years after that. To see the news and events on this site, make me both "home sick", and happy as well. I once again thank all involved with this site, its like a virtual trip to Greenville each time I look at it!
By the way, KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK with your local development (absolutely love the Globe Theatre!), but don't go too fast, we don't want to see little Greenville grow too much that its small town atmosphere becomes more of a "suburb" feeling!
I would like to dedicate this statement to all of those, that I've had the pleasure to meet in the Greenville community during my recent stay in the U.S. with my fiancée Miss Jenni Parish, whom attends the Greenville Free Methodist church. I felt right at home in the community and that I hope to return, with my fiancée and children and settle in. Best wishes to one and all.
Steven Dicker aged 23, Yate, South Glos, England.
Please have world peace
Hi, everyone! Am trying to learn something about this computer thing and came across this website. What great fun to read the guest book. We miss you all in Greenville. Last year we visited the cemetery where my great, great grandfather (or possible one more great) was buried. A new tombstone had been erected over the past few years, listing him as having founded the Farmer's Association of Bond County. Just seeking more info. I am the daughter of Vida Jarvis Payne.

This is a great way to keep up with the news back home. I am really enjoying it. Keep up the good work.
Wow, A trip down memory lane for me. I was born in Greenville and lived there until I was 11. I remember delivering The Greenville Advocate twice a week on my bicycle with my brother for $2.50 a week between us. My children will never believe that story. We always felt safe there. I remember GES and Pets day at school. My dog barked the loudest. Summers spent at the wonderful library and winning the most books read in the contest by my brother Roger and sister Ruth. We had our picture in the paper a lot. I guess because we knew them. Halloween was fun, always allowed out by ourselves back then, and we knew everyone. We lived in the DeMoulin House-we always called it The Galvin House. We missed that house when we moved. Those curved glass windows, wrap-around porch, the tower and two fireplaces. We all worked very hard on the yard. A quiet small town- nice place to grow up. I am now 34, married mother of 2 and a business owner in St. Louis. We love it here, but I should visit to see how everything has changed yet stayed the same. Love to hear from anyone that remembers the Galvin family-we always made an impact. Great site- Jacqueline Galvin Cotton
I moved from Greenville 1 year ago and am so thankful to have this resource that allows me to visit "home". Keep up the good work!
In the early 50's my husband, our 3 children and I lived in Greenville. Prior to that I used to visit Greenville with my parents who lived near Woburn. Greenville's Bond Theater, with Johnny Mac Brown serials provided entertainment. Taylors ice cream was a treat. I have many fond memories connected to your fair city. Too numerous to mention here, but I am glad to have found you on the web. Thanks
I just found you on my web. I am new at this. My husband & children lived in Greenville in the early 50's.I was born north of Woburn, IL and used to enjoy going to Greenville with my parents and sisters. Bond theater was a treat to a good movie. Taylors ice cream during ww2 with the young men serving our country, pictures graced the walls. The Purity and Brighties restaurants always served good food.
I lived in Greenville for 2 years. I wish the best of luck to the Bond county high School marching band!! You guys better kick butt next year! Also, Hi Megan Craig, Mark Holt, Jessie Hayes and all my peoples that probably don't remember me!
See ya guys soon!
I'm doing family research and would love some help. Can anyone help me?
My grandfather came from Greenville. He was taken from the Bond Cty.
Farm by M/M Charles (Ellen) Ingels (never adopted) in the 1880ies, renamed Edgar Dalrymple Ingels
was born July? 1879 or 1880. His original name was Daniel King, son of
Daniel King & Lucy Reynolds King. He left Greenville in 1898 and only returned
once for a few days. His younger sister was Nelle Louise Ingels, and never married.
Also want to know about Cora (King) Lavanchy, Edgar's natural sister, taken in by Lavanchy
family but probably not adopted either. Edgar and Nelle and Cora went to school
in Greenville.
I live in Florida, but grew up in the Bond County area. Haven't been back home for some years now, so it is nice to visit a web site that helps me catch up. I really like the genealogy site and have provided some information about my family. I will be doing research in the coming months, so this site will be of enormous help. Thank You Keith Turner
Greenville is my Hometown and I`m very proud of it.
Greenville is lucky to have a great website. I moved to Vandalia and they have been having nothing but problems for over a year and still no website.
I was looking for info on the class of 1980 reunion, also. Thanks Webmaster for your information! Now, how do I go about getting a ticket for the reunion? What time will it be held?? Anyone with info., please email me. I am seriously considering flying in for this one.
I have lived in Greenville for 1 1/2 years and it is a good town.
You have a nice site here. Our church used to be across the little side road from the airport and we enjoyed watching practices of the parachute club. Now our building is North on 127 and we can't see anything fun after church!
Thanks for an interesting site. Chris
Very sophisticated site. Thanks.
Hi; I was born and raised in Greenville. I moved to Wichita, Kansas in 1966. Was in the Class of 1953 at Greenville High School. Any of my old friends, please send a line. Nice Site!
Hi, My name is Darla and I was with the class of 1980. Does anyone out there know if there has been a 20th reunion? I guess I missed it. My husband graduated with the class of 1980 also. His name is Doug Garrett. Would love to hear from fellow classmates.
Webmaster note: It is my understanding that the Class of 1980 will have a class reunion November 25, 2000 at the Greenville Country Club. Jill (Willmann) Lauchner is in charge.
This is not my first time to this website - I have visited it a handful of times.
I graduated from GC in 1988 with a BA in Psychology, which is coming in handy with my job at the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office in Largo, FL.
I really miss Greenville, and this website gives me fond memories of my college days.
"Thanks for the memories....."
Laurie
Your site is good. I am going to be moving to Greenville in late December 2000. I've been to Greenville once before. The town was nice.
Hi, Randy. The site looks awesome. You have put so much work into the site and the publicity for Greenville. I hear it is paying off, too! Congratulations!!
Hi, I am very impressed with Greenville. I certainly enjoy the different activities the community puts on. I have several grandchildren that enjoy Greenville activities. The petting zoo coming this weekend will be popular for them.
I am looking for some old friends that I knew when I lived in Greenville, but have long ago lost touch. Their names are Tom and Doris Hobbs and they both were attending Greenville College around 1970,71,72. Perhaps by some chance they may see this, or if you happen to know of their whereabouts, please let me know.

Hello from the class of 1980!!! Hello, Greenville. I am with the class 0f 1980. Greenville is looking good.
Am very impressed with the Dead Sea Scrolls coming to Greenville, and hope to be one of many to take advantage of this opportunity.
I don't live in Greenville but, I go there about everyday for work and to visit friends and my boyfriend. The only suggestion I have for improvement of Greenville is to provide more for people of ALL ages.
I agree with Gina that there needs to be more to do for People around the ages of 16 - 20 (or who ever) if there was more to do there
wouldn't be anyone loitering around Dollar General, and DQ.
Hi Randy, I wrote you something like a year ago asking for some e-mail addresses of my host family: Anderson. I'm an AFS student who lived in Greenville for a year in 1984 / 85 and I graduated from Greenville High in 1985. Through this guest book I found some old friends of mine. You are doing a great job with the site. I hope some other friend of mine will read this and contact me. I'm used to think to Greenville as my second hometown and sometimes I find myself feeling a little bit American. Bye from your Italian Citizen! Luigi
Hi all...am looking for a safe small town... I am tired of the crime in the cities..
Hey, my name is Zach, I just drove thru your small town, and I was very impressed with the hospitality and sincerity of the citizens there, I can only hope every small town could be like Greenville, IL.
Someone did a fantastic job with the walking tour of Greenville!!! Great job on the web page too!!
I feel that Greenville is very highly thought about. It is nice to see it.
Great to see the progress Greenville is making.
I graduated from both G.H.S. ('70) and G.C. ('78), and my parents (Bob and Doris Koonce) still live there. I am very proud of how progressive and attractive my hometown and alma mater are. My friends, Carla and Kent Maples, have a wonderful antiques and collectibles business, Third Street Market, in the old Ford garage. I owned my own retail shop, Heart in Hand, for twelve years in Oregon, IL (near Rockford) and now live in Wilmington, IL (s.w. of Chicago). Both are pleasant towns, but neither is as nice as Greenville. I would love to return someday.
Heard about your antique stores on TV and am always interested in new antique stores to visit. My husband and I would like to take a few short drives this fall to enjoy the colors and I think Greenville will be the first one.
I was in Greenville June the 10th to June 23rd visiting my sisters and nephews and their families. I haven't lived there in over 50 years, but I still consider it home. On the Woburn road and the intersection of Mahle School Ave. is named after my Grandfather, H. Clement Mahle. About a mile east there is a little green house, at Mahle School Ave. and Robin. My Grandfather Built it in 1923 and it was the Mahle Schoolhouse.
How do you get to Greenville? I didn't see a map on the web site. I would love to bring my family for a visit. please email me with directions from St. Louis. Thank you. Sandra
Webmaster Note: Directions to Greenville can be found by clicking here....
