History of Nuby's Steakhouse

History:

In 1920, a family by the name of Durwood Rea were the owners of the ground on what was to become the National Trail Highway.  Mr. Durwood realized that this would bring an increase of traffic past his property.  The family decided to build a restaurant and filling station that sold Red Crown Gasoline.  Small cottages were also built on the property for travelers to stay in.

The property was later sold to a family by the name of JT Greathouse with the intention of expanding the restaurant and filling station and developing an amusement park on the property which included a swimming pool and a merry-go-round that was in use for a few years.

The property was sold to John and Alice Nuby in 1929.

Today, the building is still operated as a restaurant and the old gym still stands as do the walls of the swimming pool built so many years ago.

The restaurant is owned today by Rick and Connie Richardson.  Whether you are traveling through or live in the area, stop by for a great meal in a pleasant, family atmosphere.
